Regarding Soner Cagaptay's Feb. 2 op-ed, "Turkey's Turn From the West":
Sir, - Barry Rubin\'s "America, look behind you! Turn around! Turn around!\" (February 24) was very misleading on Turkey and the upcoming local election. He warned that if the current government won the election, Turkey would be encouraged to go in the direction of \"Islamic extremism."

In response to Soner Cagaptay's Jan. 23-25 commentary, "Is Turkey Still a Western Ally?":
Turkey had been brokering indirect peace talks between Israel and Syria but since the beginning of the raids on Gaza that process has temporarily ceased. Meanwhile the Turkish population has become increasingly defiant towards the Jewish state.
