Visit of Obama confirming the significance of Turkey... PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 06 April 2009

ImageAK Party Deputy Chairman of External Affairs Suat KINIKLIOGLU was guest to the TV8 program “Erkan Tan'la Baskent'ten". During the live program KINIKLIOGLU emphasized that before all else the visit of President Obama confirmed the significance of Turkey in international relations. “Turkey has become a regional power guiding the developments in the area ranging from the Middle East to the Black Sea, from the Caucasus to the Balkans” said KINIKLIOGLU.

ImageOn relations with Armenia, KINIKLIOGLU said “We view normalization with Armenia within the framework of our neighborhood policy. However, we approach the normalization process parallel to the Karabakh peace process. The process herein is realized through negotiations between Armenia – Azerbaijan and Turkey. The leaders of Azerbaijan are very well aware of what we want to do. In fact, I believe that the normalization of Turkish – Armenian relations contributes directly to the solution of the Karabakh conflict. Hopefully, when the problem of Karabakh is solved and relations with Armenia are normalized, the South Caucasus will become a backyard of Turkey. This is certainly something we should be pleased with.”
