KINIKLIOGLU: Turkey will always back a UN solution in Cyprus PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 02 February 2010

ImageAK Party Deputy Chairman of External Affairs Suat KINIKLIOGLU was hosted by the TV program “Gurkan Zengin ile Editör” broadcasted in Channel 24 on February 2, 2010.

In the program which TRNC elections to be held in the month of April were discussed, KINIKLIOGLU said that regardless of the outcome of the lections, as AK Party Government they do support a solution based approach elaborating as follows:

Image“The destiny of the people of TRNC focused on the negotiation process which we assess as the last opportunity. Whoever becomes the President of Republic in the coming elections, Turkey will always support a solution based political will. We believe that both of the candidates want peace on the island. The only difference is how to have peace and it is normal to have differences of opinion in this respect.

The existing Cyprus negotiations are no more limited to the island and they are no more the concern of only two communities. We are now talking about a process that might have implications on Eastern Mediterranean Security, Turkey’s EU Process and even vast geographies such as the Balkans, Black Sea and Middle East.  Especially after what has been experienced in 2004, we continuously mention that this negotiation process is the final opportunity. From this point on, the political and geopolitical responsibility will belong to the other parties because the Turkish side really has a constructive approach based on bona fide and focusing on a solution.”
