KINIKLIOGLU monitored the resolution process in Washington since the beginning and showed a sharp reaction to the outcome of the voting in Can Dundar’s “Canlı Gaste” program at NTV Channel.
Concerning a question on pressures for the approval of the protocols signed with Armenia by the TGNA, KINIKLIOGLU responded as “Such an approach will not bear an outcome in Turkey. Turkey is not a banana republic. We clearly explained to our counterparts both on behalf of the Administration and Committee that it would be impossible to pass the relevant protocols by this method. Without a roadmap headed for a solution in Karabagh or without some concrete developments, the approval of these protocols by our Parliament is impossible. If there is such an expectation, then I can tell you even now that they will be really disappointed”. |

Following the resolution envisaging the recognition of 1915 incidents as Armenian genocide in the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the Turkish-American Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Suat KINIKLIOGLU had made explanations to NTV Channel.
KINIKLIOGLU stated that submission of the resolution to the House would not be possible considering the ratio of votes adding “There is no reason to be hopeless and pessimistic. Turkey has shown the required reaction without hesitation. The Prime Ministry announced the Turkish Ambassador had been called to Ankara for consultations. Our counterparts in US will concretely realize in very near future that Turkey is really serious on this issue and it is not so easy to deal with our past and history from outside”.
