KINIKLIOGLU met with Obama's foreign policy team PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 07 November 2008

ImageSuat KINIKLIOGLU, AK Party Deputy Chairman of Foreign Affairs, Spokesman of Foreign Affairs Committee expressed that Obama's victory brought relief to the world. Obama’s Turkey visit in the near future will be an important step to repair the damaged strategic partnership.

KINIKLIOGLU stated that “We have engaged with teams from both camps and conveyed Turkey's stance on a number of crucial issues, including PKK terrorism, the so-called Armenian "genocide" claims, Cyprus and other regional problems. Therefore, Turkey has good access to key people in an administration led by Barack Obama and it’s ready to offer the new US president a clean slate.”

“New administration will be expected to pursue multilateral diplomacy by renegotiating with its allies. In this way US can contribute to peace and solidarity in the world as well as between the West and the Muslim world.” KINIKLIOGLU said.

KINIKLIOGLU also underlined  that “Obama should visit Ankara. Not secretary of State or Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the President should come into contact with our Prime Minister and President. Because such a high-level visit will significantly strengthen the US-Turkey relations.”
