KINIKLIOGLU said that Johnson especially wanted to have detailed information about Cankiri and that he invited the Mayor to Cankiri. Last year, KINIKLIOGLU escorted Stanley Johnson – the Mayor’s father – in Kalfat and facilitated a visit to his relatives there and the house where his ancestors were born. As Chairman of the Turkish-British Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group KINIKLIOGLU also asked the Mayor to support the recent initiatives for the foundation of a Turkish-English Forum. |

Suat KINIKLIOGLU, AK Party Deputy Chairman of External Affairs and Spokesman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Turkish Parliament met with the Mayor of London Boris Johnson whose ancestors originate from Cankiri, Turkey.
Boris Johnson’s grandfather was originally from Kalfat village in the Orta district of Cankiri. His grandfather, Ali Kemal was Minister of Interior during late Ottoman times. KINIKLIOGLU reported that the meeting was very pleasant and that it was impressive how fast Johnson - who never denies his Turkish origin – is progressing in the British political landscape.
