Suat KINIKLIOGLU, Spokesman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Turkish Parliament commented on the commencement of President Obama’s first term in office.
KINIKLIOGLU said “the election of Mr. Obama not only constitutes a revolution in the political culture of the U.S., it also signifies an end to the pessimistic and inward-looking era of the last eight years. Needless to say, not everything is rosy but there is reason to be hopeful in terms of Turkish-American relations as well as regional affairs. The new U.S. president is going to be good for the region as well as the world. Hence, he should be good for Turkey. Notwithstanding, the risk posed by a potential Armenian resolution, Turkish-American relations cannot be narrowed down to the Armenian issue. The agenda between Turkey and the U.S. is wide and comprehensive. We feel that there is an opportunity to mend the Turkish-American partnership. Turkey looks forward to work with the U.S. in the coming months and years. |
