In the meeting which Israel and Iran issues were discussed, KINIKLIOGLU underlined that Turkey expected an apology and compensation from Israel for attacking the Mavi Marmara flotilla and added that Turkey wanted the issue to remain within the framework of international law and that the issue is resolved. KINIKLIOGLU reminded that in 1992 during a military exercise in the Aegean Sea, an American war ship accidentally shot a Turkish vessel named Muavenet and the US both apologized and compensated due to casualties of Turkish soldiers. “This is what we expect from Israel today. We want the necessary step to be taken for the solution of the problem between the two friendly countries. Therefore, an apology and compensation should be viewed as a regular practice to solve the problem”. |
